Writing: Information Report

I am learning to write an information report.

I'll know I can do this when I can plan and write an information reports with a title, topic sentence, and a group of facts about a subject.

Something I learned was how to use difficult words and to try and spell them.

Maths: Tapawha

I am learning to order fractions with different denominators.

I'll know I can do this when I can Explain and show the order of single fractions with different denominators from smallest to largest value

Something I found hard was learning new fractions.

Art Attack: Don Binney

I am learning to create art inspired by Don Binney.

I'll know I can do this when I have created a landscape with a foreground, middle, and background.

My bird and my background are colored using pastels and natural colors.

Next time I think I could be neater with the colours.

Reading: Kotuku

I am learning to make connections between the text and my prior knowledge.

I'll know I can do this when I can share what I already know about a topic prior to reading and make connections throughout the text.

Something I learned was male seals are called bulls and female seals are called cows.

I am learning to communicate.

One way I communicate is by looking at the person politely while they're talking.

Peace Week 2017

I have been learning about Peace Week.

Peace Week is an annual tradition organised by The Peace Foundation every year. You can learn more about The Peace Foundation by following this LINK.

As a way to learn about Peace Week I did three different Peace Week activities.

With Miss Brennan we created a poster to help promote peace and Peace Week.

With Mrs Baker we made hand print doves and wrote messages of peace on them.

With Mr Horn we looked at the symbols of peace such as the dove and created origami doves.

Student Led Conference

My highlight at my Student  Led Conference was Art because I really like my tiki because I really like it's designs.
I am most proud of my monster sop because of the ideas I have.
I think my Mum and Jane enjoyed my Maths because they nearly cried.
Next time I would like to share more in the time.

Statistics

Something I learned is to label the X and Y axis.
My next step is to put the bars in the right place.

Dance

We are learning to do hip hop and salsa.
I enjoyed hip hop because I could stretch my legs.
I learned to bend my knees for the hip hop moves.

                                                                   I didn’t see a ninja

I didn’t see a pokemon

I didn’t see a shark

BUT I did see a sheep skull

 

I didn’t eat a person  

I didn’t eat an elephant

I didn’t eat a hawk

BUT I did eat a big icecream

I didn’t end the world

I didn’t kill aliens

I didn’t hold a sword

BUT I did do a front flip on a tramp

Next time I would like to think of more ideas for each part of the poem.

I have been learning to create an example of similes.
This is my example: The rats were as annoying as a fly that never leaves you.
Next time I would like to come up with more Onomatopoeia.
